Annual General Meeting at the Sawston Free Church 2009
Pathways
Minutes 5th May AGM
Those present: Shirley & Stan Matthews, Dave Percival, Frances Brownlie, Joy & Arthur Dockerill, Gill Cooper, Frances Mitton, Anne Dunn, Jill Riley (Owl), Bill Bolch, Betty Norfolk, Mary Gilmour, Chris Ingham (John Huntingdon Trust), Joe & Lillian
1) Apologies from: Bronwyn Percival, Jenni Sinclair
2) Minutes; Minutes from last years AGM were read and passed.
3) Chair’s Report: There has been a lot of sickness among our members. Last year we lost Betty Bolch and Margaretta Harrison.
We have improved our lunch meetings with the club being able to partly fund and at times fully pay for lunches and we have taken trips to garden centres.
The disability awareness project in the village is moving forwards with a few shops displaying the certificate. Bugeons was good at first but is unfortunately getting worse with leaving displays in the aisles.
The membership is growing slowly although we must make the group more open to carers.
For the future we will apply for funding to take a coach trip to the coast for the day.
We hope to make the meetings more of a social occasion with the Chair, treasurer and secretary meeting before the monthly meeting to organise and make decisions which would then be put to the rest of the group.
Thankyou to everyone who has helped in any way and to those who supply the coffee.
4) Treasurers Report: The balance is quite healthy and we have been able to subsidise
meals and pay for taxis on outings. We have made money on the Strawberry Tea, Christmas
late night shopping stall and the Huntingdon Trust have kindly helped with funding.
We also were given money from BBC Cambridge. The current funds stand at £1,213-
5) Election of Officers: Joy Dockerill nominated Dave for Chair, Arthur Dockerill
seconded. After a vote Dave Percival was re-
6) Job Sharing – Betty volunteered to organise the lunches.
Dave will arrange the agendas.
Gill will see to distribution of posters.
Frances will supply telephone numbers of every member to Gill and Betty.
7) Dave will purchase a Dictaphone to use at meetings for the minutes.
8) Gill and Dave will organise the fund raising activities. (Cambridge Rag Week, CVVS, Craft Fayre 13th June Free Church)
9) Social Events – money has been applied for to hire a wheelchair accessible coach for a trip to a London theatre to see a musical.
The aim is to invite more speakers to the meetings.
Dave will look into the possibility of a picnic on Orchard Park in the summer. Members were asked to let Dave know what they would like as social events and he will try to arrange them.
The Audley End trip is arranged for Thursday 9th July for 11 people.
10) Attracting new members – ideas suggested were: Radio Cambridge ‘What’s on’, Cambridge Evening News, Posters,
