On Tuesday 4th November David Woolley from the Cambridge Independent Living Centre talked about many of the aids on the market to help make your life a bit easier.

He brought lots of items from bottle openers, chopping boards and kettle pourers. Members were able to try out the equipment - there were even devices for helping put on socks and tights! It was an excellent meeting and the free gifts from Ridgeons Independent Living Centre were  deeply appreciated.

Sawston Pathways On Tuesday 7th October

Sawston Pathways had an excellent talk from Jean who works at Shopmobility in Cambridge. She explained that the free service, situated at the Grafton Centre and Lion Yard car park is open to anyone with mobility problems and is open most days from 10.00am til 4.00pm.

Not only are there wheelchairs and scooters but also walking frames with seats available for hire. Members of Pathways were able to test ride a scooter and were given information on how to sign up for this excellent service.

A Pathways meeting was held on Tuesday 4th November. David Woolley from the Independent Living Centre talked about many of the aids on the market to help make your life a bit easier.

This event maybe repeated next year.

In November we also arranged trips with Dial A Ride to the Huntingdon Garden Centre to check out the Christmas decorations on offer and had lunch in their café.

We will also be visiting The Greyhound in Sawston on Tuesday 6th January for lunch.

Our annual general meeting will be held at the Sawston Free Church.

Sawston Pathways have awarded their Disability Awareness Certificate

to The Jade Fountain Chinese Restaurant in Sawston, in response to a request by a Sawston resident. Mike Cheung accepted the award from Pathways Treasurer Anne Dunn in recognition of the extra help given to disabled people who use the restaurant or call for a take-away.

Residents of Sawston may have noticed that other shops are displaying a blue Disability Awareness Certificate. These have been awarded by members of Sawston Pathways to show their appreciation of the extra help and understanding given by these premises to those in the community who need extra assistance.

We would like to thank all those who contributed on Friday 12th December at the Sawston late night shopping by buying raffle or Tombola tickets.

We are always happy to welcome new members whether you are disabled, a carer or able bodied and would like to help.
