Minutes 3rd November 2009

Chair- Frances Brownlie;   Vice Chair – Jenni Sinclair;  Treasurer – Anne Dunn;

Secretary – Frances Mitton;  Social Secretary – Joy Dockerill.

1) Those Present: Joy and Arthur Dockerill, Bill Bolch, Mary Gilmore, Jackie Smith, Jenni Sinclair, Frances Brownlie, Angela McMullen, Frances Mitton,

2) Apologies:  Dave Percival, Anne Dunn.

3) Angela McMullen showed catalogues and talked about the special adapted caravan/mobile home that is situated near Sherringham. A lot of work has been done and she hopes this will soon be available for hire. It has wheelchair access although, being a caravan, it has not been possible to make the toilet wheelchair accessible. The units in the kitchen have not been lowered because of health and safety issues for families and young children. Angela will keep us updated on developments.

4) Forms have been obtained from Barclays bank for a community account so that we can transfer funds and close the building society account. This will enable us to write cheques and make the process easier for our treasurer.

5) Joy Dockerill has booked for the Christmas dinner. It is still possible to be included if you phone Joy to book your place. She will need a £10 deposit for each person which can be given to Anne Dunn or paid at our next meeting.

Joy is also organizing the meal at The Red Lion in Grantchester 17th November 1.00pm. Please let her know if you would like to join us.

6) Bill Bolch has provided some excellent presents for the Christmas Fayre (formally known as late night shopping)  Frances Brownlie has been collecting suitable small gifts and Jackie Smith and Frances Mitton have packets of sweets to be included. If anyone else has collected anything suitable for children’s prizes for a bran tub please bring them along to the December meeting when we will wrap them. We will also put the books on the stall to sell.

7) Frances Brownlie gave a fascinating talk on her memorable experiences as an adjudicator in Hong Kong. She told many funny anecdotes and showed beautiful photographs and paintings. Hong Kong she felt was not very wheelchair friendly but very clean and very well behaved youth.
